Lyle Carver has been a cornerstone of the Amherst County legal community for over 15 years, serving as a committed prosecutor. Graduating from Liberty University School of Law in 2008, Lyle seized the opportunity to intern with the Amherst Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office during his final year of law school. When he successfully passed the bar exam in October of that year, he was offered a full-time role as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Lyle’s legal prowess is evident across the General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, and Circuit Court of Amherst County. His successful prosecution record spans from DUI cases to serious crimes such as sexual assault and murder, underlining his unwavering commitment to justice and public safety.
Mentored by Legal Luminaries
His skills were honed under the mentorship of esteemed prosecutors like Stephanie Maddox, Cary Payne, and Mary Driskill, who later earned judgeships in the 24th District. To further his legal acumen, Lyle has attended specialized trainings hosted by the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Services Council and the Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys.
Service Beyond the Courtroom
Lyle also serves as a Major in the Virginia Army National Guard. He has served as an Army Officer for more than 13 years. He has served as a Judge Advocate in the military, and his role as a Senior Trial Counsel during deployment underscores his dedication to both civil and military justice.

Residing in Amherst County with his wife Melissa and four children, Lyle remains deeply invested in his community. He is an active participant in local events and a youth sports coach.
